We're making MIT a hub of Virtual Reality.
VR@MIT is an exciting new initiative to support entrepreneurship and community in virtual and augmented realities at MIT. We are working to bring together tech titans, creatives and VR enthusiasts and practitioners to help shape the future of this exciting field.
Why VR?
As the Chair of Hacking Arts and the Creative Arts Sector Practice Leader, I saw a huge interest in Virtual Reality from all corners of campus. While my work has encompassed supporting all the creative industries, I saw an opportunity to create something new for the burgeoning field of VR. I met Jacob, a self-proclaimed VR junkie and together we formed VR@MIT. By working to support entrepreneurs here on campus and connecting with the top thought leaders in the field, we believed we could make an impact on the MIT community.
What are we doing?
First, we are focusing on community - and that means lots of awesome events. Secondly, we've been meeting with VR practitioners and entrepreneurs on campus to learn about the resources they need. (Have a suggestion? Email us!) Soon we'll be debuting workshops, workspaces, and hopefully additional resources for interested entrepreneurs at MIT.
